Today I was running late to work, and I was staring at my closet without a clue of what to wear. I grabbed a shirt I hadn’t worn in a while, which I love to pair with my dark red denim pants. I was super excited when colored denim became a thing, don’t ask me why.
I haven’t worn these pants in a while, and I used to have to wear them with a belt because I have constantly had a bigger waist and thin legs. So, in a rush, I threw on my pants, grabbed a belt, and was floored. The pants were huge, and I had to tighten the belt all the way to the last notch – four more than I used to. Woah. I felt like one of those “after” pictures in weight-loss pill commercials. It was such a good feeling. As of right now, I’m down 17 pounds. That’s heavier than some Thanksgiving turkeys. I usually get hung up on the small disappointments along the way, and I forget about the bigger picture. I’ve made some awesome life changes, and the results are starting to become visible. New problem: none of my clothes fit me anymore. Good problem, but also a bad problem…because money is tight right now.
I found thredup.com which ended up giving me close to $40 for my old clothes, but then took $10 back to cover the shipping to return the items that didn’t sell back to me. Ah well, money is money. It’s also a great place to buy nice clothes that are gently used. I recommend it! 🙂 In the spirit of the giving season, I plan to go through my entire closet, try everything on, and sell/donate everything that doesn’t have the slightest chance of fitting me anymore. That’s awesome! Congrats! I can’t wait to be too small for my clothes. I’m sure that’s such a great feeling! 🙂 Also, I love the visual of your weight loss being the size of a turkey. It can be really hard to see that your weight loss is a real difference until you can put a face on it of some sort. Like I’ve lost 10 pounds, but that doesn’t seem like a lot in the grand scheme of things until I see what 10 pounds really looks like. Great uplifting post! 🙂
Go to a bowling alley and find a 10 pound bowling ball! Congrats! I like to think of things that weigh the same as what I have lost. My cousin recently had a baby and I like to think about how many “Lukes” I’ve lost instead of pounds. It’s pretty fun 🙂
That’s hilarious! And so interesting too. I’ve lost almost 3 pounds more than I weighed when I was born. I lost a baby me. The bowling ball thing is a good idea too. That’s gonna be unreal! Thanks for the ideas! 🙂
