My First Meetup

Even though I have been loving my free time, and really taking advantage of it, there’s a point where not having friends in my immediate area gets boring and a little lonely.

I leaned back on Meetup.com to find friends the same way I did in Rochester (and that worked out pretty well!). I looked around at the groups, and I found one that fit me fairly well; young female professionals in Albany.

I looked at the past and upcoming meetups, and they seemed normal. Then, and most importantly, I looked at the relative age of the members. I’ve made me mistake of heading to a meetup that was twenty years out of my age range….whoops.

Long story short, it was great. I was really nervous about going, because I had never gone to a new meetup by myself before. I had always brought someone with me to the first meetup, but this one was me flying solo.

There were only five of us there, but that’s not a bad thing. We sat around, drank wine, ate really good cheesecake, and it was nice. I wasn’t nervous at all after just a few minutes.

Albany is looking a little bit better 🙂

  1. It is SO HARD. I’ve been here over 4 months and still trying to figure it out. Luckily you have youth on your side:)
